Rainforest Robins
Rainforest Robins
The robins of Australia are not
related to the English robins of which they were named after, but belong to
their own family the Petroicidae. They were so named because like the English
robins, the robins of the south-eastern Australian woodlands stood upright on a
perch, flew out to feed on insects, and often had bright pink and red breasts.
However, the 'Australian Robins' found in the rainforests tend to be much more
subdued in colour.
