‘Frogmouths’
Podargus spp.

Frogmouths are bizarre looking nocturnal birds. They usually have brownish grey plumage, staring eyes, and large mouths. They are generally found in the Australasian region and up into tropical Asia. By day these remarkable birds may strike a crooked, vertical stance on a branch that makes them appear as part of the tree in a remarkable piece of camouflage.
