Cassowary Plum:
Cerbera floribunda
-
The
Cassowary Plum can be a tall tree, with large, long
leaves arranged in erect whorls, many coloured red.
-
The fruit is an very large,
bright blue and egg-shaped fruit.
-
These fruits are typical food for the
cassowary (i.e.; large and colourful), presumably resulting in the common name of
these trees.
-
It is common at Mossman Gorge and along Jindalba boardwalk.
