Scaly Breasted Lorikeet:
Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus
-
This is a very pretty green parrot. It's
distinguishing feature that gives it the common name are the yellow spots on the
green breast that appear as scales.
-
The orange beak appears bright in contrast
to the greens of the rest of the bird.
-
It is often seen mixed in with flocks of
'rainbow lorikeets', of which it is similar in size and behaviour.
-
The call is
also similar, but slightly more mechanical or 'tinny' in sound.
